Privacy policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
Dinners2Nite is operated by Image Depot LLC. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information.
Accounts
You can use recipes and cook-at-home picks without an account. We do not run advertising trackers or sell your information. The one tracking script we load is the affiliate script described under "Affiliate links and tracking" below.
If you create a free account or start Plus, we keep: your email address, when you created the account, your sign-in sessions (a random code we store only in scrambled form, with a short device description such as "Chrome on Android"), your plan and its status, and how many restaurant and grocery searches you made each month (the count only, not what you searched for). We use this to sign you in, run your plan, apply search limits, and send the emails described below.
Sign-in codes and emails
To sign in, we email you a 6-digit code. We also email you about your account: your free trial starting, a reminder about 3 days before it ends, payment problems, and cancellation. We send these through Resend, our email provider, which processes your email address only to deliver them. We do not send marketing emails, and we keep a record of which account emails were sent (not their contents) so we can help if one goes missing.
Payments
Plus payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly, and we never see or store your full card number. From Stripe we receive your plan, its status and renewal dates, and a customer reference. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment information it collects.
What stays on your device
Your saved recipes, food preferences (diets, allergies, dislikes, favorite cuisines), shopping list, and optionally your chosen location are stored in your browser's local storage on this device. We do not receive them. You can remove them any time from My dinners, or by clearing your browser data.
Keeping and deleting your data
You can delete your account any time from your account page. Deleting it cancels any Plus plan immediately and removes your email address, sign-in sessions, plan record and search counts from our systems. We keep an anonymous record that an account was deleted, and a one-way scrambled form of your email address (it cannot be turned back into your address) only to prevent repeat free trials. Stripe keeps its own payment records, such as invoices, as the law requires. Sign-in codes are deleted within two days.
Your location
- We ask your browser for your location only when you press "Use My Location". Never when a page loads.
- If you allow it, your coordinates are sent to our server, which uses them to run the search you asked for with Google Maps (Google Places) and to work out distances. We do not store your searches or coordinates on our servers.
- If you prefer, type a city or ZIP code instead. That text is sent the same way.
- The location we remember on your device is rounded to about one mile (two decimal places) and comes with a label such as "Current location". Use "Forget my location" in the header or on My dinners to remove it.
A rough guess to help you type
When you open the location box, our server may read the approximate city and ZIP code that our hosting provider, Cloudflare, derives from your connection. We use it only to suggest a place in the city or ZIP box ("Near Houston, TX?"). It is a rough guess, it is never treated as your exact location, and we do not save it.
Google Maps
Searches go from our server to Google, so Google receives the search text and coordinates or city you asked about, but not your device or IP address. Results are shown with Google Maps attribution. If you tap a link to Google Maps or a restaurant's website, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Affiliate links and tracking
Pages on Dinners2Nite load a tracking script from Impact, an affiliate network, so that purchases made through affiliate links (for example, links to grocery delivery partners) can be credited to us. The script can see which pages you view here and may set cookies in your browser. Dinners2Nite may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this site. You can block it with your browser privacy settings or a content blocker, and the site works the same without it.
Visit counts
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate (pages viewed, rough country, browser type). It is cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not follow you across websites, and does not build a profile of you.
Hosting and security
Our site runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests and keeps standard operational logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We use security measures, including Cloudflare bot protection and location-based access limits (the site is currently available in the United States only). To keep automated abuse out of our search, we use your IP address only in a scrambled (hashed) form to limit how many searches can be made in a short time, and our logs record blocked requests without storing your raw IP address.
Cookies
If you sign in, we set a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for 30 days after your last visit. It holds a random code, nothing about you, and is strictly necessary for your account to work. We also set one short-lived security cookie (about two hours) when you open a page. It is strictly necessary to keep automated tools from running our search, it contains no personal information, and it is not used for tracking or advertising. If we turn on a human check (Cloudflare Turnstile), it may add a second security cookie that lasts about thirty minutes. Your saved recipes and preferences are kept in your browser's local storage, not in cookies.
Children
Dinners2Nite is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
